2019 CELEBRATION SUNDAY

Join with us as we celebrate all the Lord has done over the past year with our 2019 Annual Report!

The Family Place in the South Bay

EN-THEOS-IASM
We at OVC are full of it, and in the best possible way. According to Hebrews 10:24 we are to continually consider how to stir up one another to love and good works. That word “stir” means to irritate and we want to be the most irritating church around!
Celebrate with us all that God has done in and through OVC to stir up the South Bay for His Kingdom!

| FINANCE UPDATE

Ocean View has seen the evidence of God working in the lives of His people this year, especially in the area of tithes and offerings.
Here are some highlights through June of 2019:
  • Our tithes and offerings are coming in at nearly 9% over budget expectations this year, which has been a huge blessing.
  • The 12:45 service giving has been strong and consistent since the spring
  • We have added many new giving families from the 6pm service as well.

These increases have allowed us to support new missionaries mid-year, add our WOW weekend last spring, make technology improvements in the worship center, pier and tent, launch our new Friday Night of Hope, and many other exciting things with Kingdom impact. And who could forget providing a car and 7 motorcycles to the leaders in Uganda who are impacting dozens of churches every week. It is amazing what God can do through the faithful gifts of His people to His church.

Our main budget is currently in a net positive position, and our 19/20 budget looks forward to this growth we see in our current giving levels.

Last school year the academy ministry had strong enrollments in the preschool and elementary levels, and exceeded income projections in secondary and after school care as well. Their net positive standing is allowing us to accomplish some exciting improvements this summer to our buildings that will benefit everyone for years to come. We are thankful for each family the Lord brings to our school ministry, and we count it an honor to serve them and share the gospel daily in our classrooms.

Your commitments as a church family for our daring faith building project, the family life center, are reaching amazing levels as well, and we can only thank you and thank God for over $260k in gifts so far this year. And after 31 months we have given over $760k of the original $920k in commitments towards DF. Incredible! We are preparing exciting news coming later this fall regarding the future FLC. We can't wait to share it with you, and we can't wait for what God has planned for OVC in the south bay!

God is doing great things in the 12:45 pm Spanish Service! We have seen many come to faith in Jesus and be baptized in obedience to our Lord Christ.  We are seeing new families join OVC and become part of our growing family.

We are especially seeing great enthusiasm growing in our children’s ministry. Since we introduced the new bilingual curriculum we see our kids and our teachers grow with a material that speaks the language with which they feel most comfortable. Our teen group has a new couple ministering to their needs who bring a boost of energy and passion that connects well them.

Another source of praise and thanksgiving to Jesus is the completion of the R-3 Academy for men. We had twenty six men finishing a course in developing strong relationships with their wives and children. They received a certificate and a gift. Continuing the momentum of the R-3 Academy we have started the “Radical Mentoring” for men and as an addition we also started “Couples Mentoring” using Dr. Les and Leslie Parrott material. We are on our way to good men and marriages!

Financially the Spanish ministry continues to grow in the grace of giving; we see faithful giving and cheerful support for the Daring Faith church campaign.

7 MONTHS AND GROWING
On January 27 of this year we launched OVC REAL, our 6:00 pm Sunday service en Español.

In 7 months we have seen more than 30 new decisions to follow Christ, baptized 10 people, and a community of faith and friendship has been formed.

We have people coming from as far away as Ensenada and Tijuana, Mexico and Temecula, California!!

One of the strongest ministries is SURF CITY KIDS REAL, an environment where every Sunday evening more than 30 children learn God's Word and have fun at the same time.  Another area where God is on the move is in our youth ministry, REAL-KREW. Perhaps the most popular part of OVC REAL, is REAL-COFFEE, an environment where everyone loves spending time sharing their stories!

We are a church where everyone is welcome with a contemporary style and full of energy!!

THE GREAT COMMISSION
MATTHEW 28:18-20
18
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
David and Lynn Barker
Directors of OVC Missions

OCEAN VIEW CHURCH supports 73 missionaries and missions projects around the world.

75 people participated in OVC missions trips in the past year over 5 separate missions trips.

OVC launched and co-sponsored, for the first time, the Festival para la Familia event at Villa Charra in Tijuana, Mexico.

Tim and Missy Helton | ALASKA
Bernard and  Annette Kirabira | UGANDA
Tim and Sharon Simmonds | RADIUS INTERNATIONAL
Jim and Sharon Smith | ECUADOR
Nick and  Katie Stuart | MANNA INTERNATIONAL
Through your generosity in missions giving, we were able to take on all five of these missionaries with monthly support. Praise the Lord!

OVC FEEDING SAN DIEGO STATISTICS
Picture
Since OVC became a Feeding San Diego distribution center, we have distributed more than 829,000 lbs of foods to our community.

Picture
Since our beginning, OVC has spent $29,000 on food to distribute. That means each $1 contributed has given 28 lbs of food to those in need.

Picture
In the last 7 months, OVC Feeding San Diego has distributed groceries to more than 6,000 families! That is potentially 24,000 people fed as a result of this valuable ministry.

Picture
OVC Feeding San Diego relies on volunteers to make the distribution possible. Feeding San Diego happens on the first and third Saturdays of every month and averages 55-60 volunteers per Saturday.
